Osteria
Caccianferno is located at the foot of the splendid romanic cathedral
of Trani, in the old area of the custom-houses.
Since 1994 Osteria Caccianferno has been proposing
the old flavours of the cooking of our region, Puglia, in an ethnic
but at the same time elegant atmosphere. Tables are placed among
typical tufa and stone walls, while the barrel vaults are decorated
with nice ornaments. On the outside a beautiful space is available
among the adjacent buildings' ancient walls: here Alessandro Granieri
proposes his gastronomic specialities in the warm summer evenings.
Caccianferno's specialities "speak" the dialect of Trani:
spaghetti "san Giovannidd", orecchiette with turnips,
baked pasta "alla Tranese", legume and vegetables soups...
In
opposition to the local traditions, Osteria Caccianferno exclusively
proposes meat as second course.
In the Osteria Caccianferno the fire-place reigns
supreme: here lamb meat, beef, pork, Argentine angus, buffalo and
the famous Florentine beefsteak (Chianina race) are roasted.
At the end of the meal one shouldn't miss the home-made cakes to
be tasted with traditional liqueurs, such as the Limoncello. The
choice of wines comes from the most renowned wine-producing houses
of Puglia.
